About me
GIS System Analyst for the County of Ottawa for the past nine years. Spent previous lives in the utility industry with stops with the Holland Board of Public Works, City of Grand Rapids, and Grand Haven Charter Township. I am responsible for all GIS server builds, server maintenance, software installs and upgrades. I also oversee RDBMS development and maintenance including performance tuning. I am currently working on migrating our base ArcGIS Enterprise deployment to a federated environment based on Esri best practice. I administer 13 servers, three RDBMS instances, along with dozens of python scripts.
I have been on the IMAGIN Board of Directors for either 11 or 13 years (I can't remember anymore). I am the current Vice-President and Conference Chair. I have previous experience as the Treasurer, Secretary, chair of the Membership Team, By-Law development & review, and as the chair of the (now defunct) Student Poster & Paper Competition. I have chaired four conferences (Crystal Mountain Resort, Mackinac Island, downtown Grand Rapids, and Park Place Hotel in Traverse City), and co-chaired conferences at the Hagerty Center and Great Wolf Lodge, both in Traverse City.
In my limited free time, I find myself fishing, coaching baseball, attending all sorts of youth sporting events for my three boys - Hayden (11), Lance (9), and Dean (5) with my wife Megan. I have recently become more interested in bourbon and can finally differentiate between good and bad bourbon.
